What is inside of the mattress

When purchasing and using a mattress, we usually see it only from the outside, however, the quality of the mattress itself, its hardness, height and properties depend on what is inside. Fillers of mattresses play a key role in shaping their qualities: each of them contributes to the anatomical properties of the product and its comfort component. In this regard, if you want to buy a really high-quality mattress that best suits your expectations, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the properties of its fillers. In this article, we will try to describe in more detail all types and properties of the materials that fill out mattresses.

POLYURETHANE FOAM

PIANKA POLIURETANOWA
Polyurethane foam, which is the basis of many mattresses, is nothing more than foam rubber, only with improved properties. The material got its name Porolon thanks to the Scandinavian company with that name. To date, only the name remains of the quality and properties of that material. Thanks to modern technologies, foam rubber has received not only a new name, but also acquired a lot of new and useful qualities that made it possible to use it in the production of mattresses. Thanks to the technology of mixing in certain proportions of substances, polyurethane foam, containing 90% air in its composition, acquires basic characteristics such as elasticity, heat resistance, density and hardness. There is an opinion that when the mattress, which contains this polymer, is heated to body temperature, a specific odor appears, caused by the release of harmful components that make up the polyurethane foam. Therefore, it was believed that the use of this material as a filler for a mattress is unsafe. But in fairness, it should be noted that the toxicity of this filler occurs only if the production technology is not followed. Our company buys polyurethane foam for mattresses from well-known and trusted manufacturers who fully comply with the production technology and have all the certificates for their products. Therefore, you can be sure of the safety and quality of our mattresses.

POLYURETHANE FOAM WITH HIGH RESILIENT (HR)

Highly resilient HR foams have special comfort properties, increased elasticity and provide a “spring” effect without sagging discomfort.

In contrast to standard polyurethane foams, the structure of HR foam is heterogeneous – the cells have different sizes and react differently to the applied force. When the load is low, only small holes enter the work, which corresponds to the effect of soft foam rubber. As the load increases, larger cells with greater compression resistance begin to operate. Thus, an amazing feeling of comfort and the correct anatomical body support are achieved. This means that two people of different weight will feel equally comfortable on a product made of such foams: a light one will not feel excessive rigidity, and a person with a large weight will not feel the “failure” effect – the highly elastic foam will confidently take the body weight and distribute it evenly.

MEMORY FOAM, VISCO

Memory foam. Visco

It is a special highly elastic polyurethane foam with shape memory effect.

Mattresses with such filling in the shortest period of time take the shape of the body and remember it for the entire period of load on them. The pressure on the spine and joints decreases. This is due to the porosity of the product and the smooth transformation. Mattresses with Memory foam or Visco filling have many advantages. Accepts any body shape. Therefore, they are suitable even for heavier people. Since the maximum load indicator is 200 kilograms. Long service life. On average, it is 8 years. It is warm to sleep on such a mattress even in the coldest winter. Ideal for sleeping together. He does not transmit vibrations, so the second person will not feel the movements of the first person’s body.

The shape memory material was originally created by NASA specifically for astronauts. This technology was designed to reduce the load on the spine during takeoff, but in practice it was never used, since it turned out that certain factors would affect the release of gases harmful to the space environment. But the Swedes continued the business of the American company. In the 80s, a new substance was created – VISCO, which had a “memory function” and at the same time did not bring any side effects, and soon, in the 90s, the first trial mattresses with “memory foam” were released. They were originally used in medicine, but soon became widely sold and used at home.

Various speculations surround memory mattresses, there are even opinions about the dangers of an innovative material due to an unpleasant odor. But if you look closely, such statements turn out to be fiction.

Subject to the production technology, “Memory Foam” is based on a hydrocarbon organic polymer – polyurethane foam. The conclusion about the harmlessness of this substance is confirmed by a world organization that studies the levels of evaporation of side elements during operation.

FILZ

filc do materacy

We use felt as spacers between the spring block and the fillers in our mattresses. This is a non-woven material that is made from natural or synthetic fibers or wool, by felting. A kind of felt. The name comes from the German “filz” – felt.

In our mattresses, we use felt as protection against damage to the fillers by metal springs of the spring block.

SPRING BLOCK

BLOK SPRĘŻYNOWY

In some of our mattresses, we use a spring block. The independent spring block is a unique design, assembled using pocket technology. Each spring of a cylindrical, double-cone or barrel-shaped form is placed in a special case-pocket, which completely eliminates the contact of metal parts. The spiral wires do not touch each other and the compression of one does not affect the others located nearby. The result of using the pocket-type technology is the absence of a metal squeak when moving in a dream and a point distribution of the load on the mattress surface. It does not bend like a hammock, which does not interfere with the person lying next to it.

LATEXED COCONUT THE COIR

LATEKSOWA MATA KOKOSOWA

Coconut coir is 100% natural material. The raw material for it is coconut, or rather the fibers that cover its shell. These fibers protect the coconut from splitting when dropped from a great height, because the height of some fruit-bearing palms exceeds 25 meters. Basically, mattress manufacturers use the cushioning properties of coconut fibers that nature has given them. However, these fibers must undergo a special treatment before becoming a full-fledged functional layer or base for a mattress.

The addition of latex dispersion to coconut fibers makes it possible to transform this material into a dense and elastic monolith. At the same time, it will not lose its original natural qualities, such as breathability, hygroscopicity, elasticity and ability to retain heat. A mattress with the addition of coconut coir obtained by the latex method will serve its owner much longer than a similar model with a pressed needle-punched coir. The latex-impregnated monolith does not deform, crumbles or loses its orthopedic properties with aging.

LATEX CARPET

Latex is made from the sap of the Hevea tree (rubber tree). To improve consumer properties, latex is perforated – i.e. in the finished monoblock, micro-holes are made through which air passes freely. The density of natural latex allows you to closely follow the contours and shapes of the body. Thanks to this factor, the spine assumes the correct physiological position during sleep. You feel refreshed and refreshed in the morning.

Due to the high content of natural rubber elastomer in the latex, this material perfectly adapts to body contours, eliminating points of increased pressure and providing uniform support to the spine. With all its elasticity and adaptability, latex is quite elastic, so even a soft orthopedic mattress containing this filler can provide high-quality support for the lumbar, cervical and upper back.

Made from natural rubber, latex is not a breeding ground for dust mites, germs and other microorganisms, and therefore mattresses with this filler are often recommended for people with respiratory diseases and allergies.

Long-term experience in the use of latex in the production of orthopedic mattresses made it possible to derive the optimal formula for its manufacture. Modern latex is designed for cyclic loads and is capable of performing its functions regularly for ten years or more.

ZIPPER COVER

POKROWIEC NA SUWAK

For our mattresses, we use various zipper covers, which allows them to be washed at 30 degrees. This way you can keep your mattress tidy for longer.

Covers have a different pattern and composition. They consist of 60-70% polyester, 20-30% viscose + various additives (elastin, bamboo, silk, wool and others).
